Approximately 1,000 People Stranded on Everest Mountain Sides

Mount Everest is the highest peak in the globe.

Rescue efforts are in progress on the isolated slopes in Tibet of Everest, where a severe snowstorm has blocked around one thousand people in base camps on the east-facing side of the peak.

Hundreds community members and rescue teams have been dispatched to remove heavy snowfall blocking access to the region, which sits at an elevation of above 4,900 meters.

Some hikers have already been rescued from the affected area.

Intense snow began on Friday evening and has worsened on the east side of Everest in Tibet, an region frequented by adventurers and hikers.

It has been stated that shelters had given way due to the weight of the snow, and a number of individuals were experiencing exposure.

Admission tickets and entry to the Everest tourism site have been halted effective Saturday.

The area is facing harsh climate, with neighbouring Nepal being affected by torrential downpours that have caused mudslides and sudden flooding, destroying crossings and claiming the lives of at least 47 individuals in the past 48 hours.

In China, a tropical storm has come ashore, forcing around 150k residents to leave from their homes.

Mount Everest is the planet's tallest mountain at more than 29,032 feet. While numerous climbers attempt to climb the top annually, it is seen as an incredibly dangerous expedition.

In recent years, it has been affected by issues with over-tourism, ecological issues, and a string of fatal climbing attempts.
