British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
