Discover Twenty-Nine Latest Cards from Magic: The Gathering's TMNT Set (Including a Commander-Style Deck!)
The world's beloved pizza-loving superheroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The well-known trading card game's company, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel hosted at NYCC. Could this be a exciting addition or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you decide.
Check out below at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with key background. Everything listed below launches on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27th.
MTG x TMNT: Core Set Cards
Before diving into all the various unique products and bundles available, let’s take a look at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the set are priced at $6.99 each, while premium boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a couple of shell-shocking details. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu ability, where players can cheat big creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacking creature goes unblocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can affect spells that aren’t creatures as well. The designers also used this chance to clean up the mechanic a bit (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability is staying, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in upcoming expansions from now on.
“If we ever go back to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that plane is it was developed and it is iconic to that,” a senior game designer stated. “But in other settings, since the rules are cleaner and the new ability is what's going to be in standard, it’s probable that we'd use Sneak.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four special cards with unique artwork created specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing cards that aren't in your deck, so was I. Yet according to Wizards, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, below are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from this set:
As per Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they took care to ensure the cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I led the design for over a year and we were aware it was going to be in standard and what other sets would be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a Izzet strategy built around artifact cards.
“They mesh together to offer the components for a fun Standard deck,” he says.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power
After declining to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary creatures that can serve as your commander depending on how you pair them (five cards include a unique Partner mechanic called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area rather than only one). Take a look below:
This Commander precon is set at $69.99, though the price may rise due to popularity. Sources indicated that it includes 43 new cards in total, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed cards in addition to the six legendary creatures shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the precon includes 37 land cards.)
How will the TMNT version of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and see.
TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)
Typically, the company is selling a bundle. It costs $69.99 and contains the following:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
- 15 Non-foil basic lands
- 2 helper cards
- One Traditional foil promo card
- 1 Large life tracker
- One Card-storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it comes in what looks like a pizza box. Every Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the following:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- 1 Premium Booster
- Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
- Five Foil pizza basic lands
- 2 Traditional foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
- 2 helper cards
- One Large spindown life counter
- One storage box
For those curious what a “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card featuring all-new TMNT art. Wizards revealed one for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter adding toppings onto a pizza slice. There are six distinct pizza promos available.
The Pizza Bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
- Twelve Standard Boosters (ideal for a group of four to draft)
- 1 Collector Booster (aka, the reward for winning)
- 90 Non-foil land cards (to build your draft deck)
- 10 Regular double-sided tokens
- 1 Draft insert (a single-page guide to drafting the set)
Turtle Team-Up
Finally, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to develop Magic products specifically for beginners. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The concept is that every Boss card gives special abilities to the creatures contained in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays an additional card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
