Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt prepared to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the production, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the killings, public figures shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making controversial claims that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and implied they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an associate ought to have intervened when the choice to speak on the tragedy was made.
