Frustration for Postecoglou as Swansea Shock Forest with Dramatic Turnaround

Ange Postecoglou, hands rooted in pockets, was still shaking his head in astonishment as he walked on to the pitch at the conclusion of the match.

Swansea had just pulled off an incomprehensible turnaround to progress to the EFL Cup fourth round, netting two goals in the final four minutes of added time.

Igor Jesus registered his first goals for the club to earn a two-goal interval lead, but Postecoglou will have to wait for his first victory in charge.

The Australian coach appeared to take accountability for the collapse, gesturing at his own role as he headed to acknowledge the traveling supporters.

“We put them through a tough night,” he said. “We are out of a cup competition we should have progressed in.”

Before Zan Vipotnik equalised in the final moments, it seemed that Postecoglou would secure his first win.

Forest were shocked when Vipotnik levelled, and staggered when the visitors' captain, the defender, scored his second goal in style.

“It was a moment of pure emotion,” Alan Sheehan said. “I kept an eye on the time because Forest that can put the ball in the top corner.”

Things looked ominous for the Championship side when, trailing by a pair of first-half goals, Postecoglou brought on key substitutes.

However, the defender pulled a goal back eight minutes later, converting a set-piece.

Andy Fisher made a big save to thwart Callum Hudson-Odoi, but the hosts wasted chances to wrap up the win.

“We are going to have to earn everything,” Postecoglou added. “It’s not just going to come to us.”
