Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
