New York Attorney General Faces Criminal Financial Fraud Indictment

A national judicial panel has charged the New York attorney general for financial misconduct on Thursday, according to someone with knowledge of the case.

The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia personally presented the case to the grand jury this Thursday, as reported.

US attorneys seldom appear before such panels.

Halligan took over in the role last month following Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction regarding the progress of inquiries targeting political opponents.

This action is the president’s latest effort to weaponize the DOJ to punish adversaries.

It follows 14 days after charges were filed targeting the former FBI director.

Experienced attorneys wrote a document regarding that situation outlining why indictments lacked merit.

Comey pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
