It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
