The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as sparing holiday birds, but the county's top official conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
